Paula Patton just revealed at an ABFF (American Black Film Festival)talk that she’s been offered a role in the Sparkle remake that’s in the works by Salim and Mara Brock Akil (the team behind Jumping the Broom).
Patton didn’t confirm which role, but an offer has been made and is under consideration. She did say that they wanted her very specifically from the beginning.
Just one year after giving birth to her first child, Mission Impossible 4 actress Paula Patton has slipped back into a string bikini.
The Los Angeles native was joined by her husband, R&B singer Robin Thicke, today as she strutted around the beach in Miami, Florida.
Wearing a tiny brown string bikini and Chanel sunglasses, Paula, 35, showed off her curves as she frolicked in the water.
Later, the svelte star drew looks of admiration as she took a break from working on her tan and relaxed under an umbrella.
In April of 2010, the actress and her Grammy Award-winning husband, who is the son of actor Alan Thicke, welcomed their first child, a son named Julian Fuego.
Paula is in Miami this weekend promoting her latest films, at the 15th annual American Black Film Festival.The actress won critical acclaim in 2009 for breakout role as a concerned teacher in the gritty, Academy Award-winning film Precious.
The star, who attended film school at the University of Southern California has recently seen her career soar.
In May, she starred in the urban comedy, Jumping the Broom which cost just $6 million to make and earned nearly $40 million.
Paula also plays the female lead in the fourth Mission Impossible movie, which stars Tom Cruise and Hurt Locker actor Jeremy Renner.
She plays a young operative in the film which is due out in the UK on the 26th of December 2011.
In an interview last week with urban website theroot.com, Paula raved about working with Cruise.
‘Working with Tom [Cruise] was the best experience,’ she said.
‘There is a reason he is one of the best movie stars ever, because he works so hard and he is so kind to everybody. I learned a tremendous amount working with him.’
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles) for release December 16th. The film co-stars Ving Rhames, Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Vladimir Mashkov, Michael Nyqvist, Josh Holloway, Simon Pegg, Lea Seydoux, and Anil Kapoor. Since some of you were wondering, that’s Dubai’s Burj Kahlifa, tallest building in the world.

Now that Jeremy Renner got the big male lead opposite Tom Cruise in the next Mission: Impossible, the focus of Paramount Pictures, director Brad Bird and producers Cruise and JJ Abrams is filling the role of a young female operative. I’m told that Lauren Germain and Paula Patton are testing for the job.
Here’s hoping they look to Ms. Patton to take on the role!
Precious star Paula Patton will join the cast of Law & Order: SVU in the fall, NBC announced Wednesday.
Patton will play Assistant District Attorney Mikka Von in multiple episodes, beginning with Episode 5. She fills the ADA slot left vacant by both Stephanie March, who won’t return to SVU this fall, and guest star Sharon Stone.
“When I saw Paula Patton give that terrific performance in the multi-Oscar nominated Precious, I knew she’d be perfect for SVU’s new Assistant District Attorney — she’s funny, warm and witty with a penchant for justice,” executive producer Neal Baer said in a statement.
In Precious, Patton played Ms. Rain, a teacher who inspired Gabourey Sidibe’s titular troubled teen.
SVU returns for its 12th season on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Law & Order: SVU is close to reaching a verdict on a new full-time assistant district attorney. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Precious actress Paula Patton is in advanced talks to succeed Sharon Stone as ADA.
Reps for NBC and Wolf Films declined to comment.
Last April, Stone joined SVU for a four-episode arc as ADA Jo Marlowe. She replaced SVU vet Stephanie March, who has since moved on.
In Precious, Patton played Ms. Rain, the alternative high school teacher who served as a mentor of sorts for Gabourey Sidibe’s title character. And she was awesome.

Paula Patton, now onscreen in Just Wright, is in negotiations to topline the wedding-themed comedy Jumping the Broom. Television helmer Salim Akil is making his feature directorial debut on the project, which is slated to start shooting in the summer in Nova Scotia.
Written by Arlene Gibbs and Elizabeth Hunter, the film follows the clash of two black families from opposite ends of the socioeconomic background at a weekend wedding in Martha’s Vineyard. Patton would play the female lead of the wealthy family.
Bishop T.D. Jakes, Curtis Wallace, Tracey Edmonds, Glendon Palmer and Elizabeth Hunter are producing. Hunter did a recent polish on the script.
If the project comes together, it likely would go out through the Sony label.

She may now be the proud mother of a healthy baby boy born on April 6th 2010, but before giving birth to Julian, actress Paula Patton posed for a revealing Ebony magazine spread – which includes two covers of our girl. This issue hits stands nationwide on Tuesday April 13th. If anyone is able to provide scans, please send them in. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to (or which cover for that matter).

In an exclusive photo shoot, the 34-year-old starlet personifies this month’s theme of Power of Possibility. What represents possibility more than motherhood? As she prepared for the birth of her son, Julian and the release of her new romantic comedy, Just Wright, Patton is living in the moment after she reached a career high in her role in the Oscar-winning film Precious. “I’m so thankful about the things that are happening in my career. Being pregnant has been a real lesson in taking every day as it comes. I don’t know what’s coming next,” she said. Her husband, Robin Thicke, also chimes in on how the pregnancy changed him and how fatherhood will affect his music.
Queen Latifah revealed to E! Online that she is throwing a baby shower for Paula.
“It’s going to be pretty intimate,” Latifah tells me. “Not too crazy. Just close family and friends.”
Patton is reportedly due in May. “She’s my buddy,” said Latifah, who costars with Patton and Common in Just Wright, an upcoming romantic comedy set in the world of basketball. “I love her. I’ve been watching her baby grow from the beginning.”
Look for some musical gifts to be on the baby registry. Are they expecting the little guy to be musical? “He will be,” Thicke assured me.
“He will sing,” Patton said, adding with a laugh, “Look, no pressure!”
Latifah has her gift picked out. “I have some work to do, but I’m not getting her clothes,” she said. “I have a special gift that I’m excited about.”
And no, she won’t be called Aunt Queen or Aunt Latifah. She’ll be using her real name instead.
On Tuesday, April 6, 2010 Paula Patton and Robin Thicke welcomed their first child, Julian Fuego, into the world.
Paula became pregnant in Fall 2009. Thicke, 32, and Patton, 34, are high school sweethearts who will be celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary in June. We wish to extended our warmest congratulations to the happy couple!
