Check out one of the very first reviews to come out about Push. The review makes the film sound very promising which is good to hear! The movie was screened and received with a standing ovation at the Racquet Club.

The rest of the cast performs just as strongly. Before this morning I had written Paula Patton (Mirrors, Hitch) off completely as an actress. But Push shows that, given the right material, Patton can be luminously beautiful and emotionally vivid.

From: HitFix
Push is an inspiring and powerful film that will put Daniels on the map as one of cinema’s emerging talents. Now, all he has to do is figure out how to pull off an equally rewarding encore

As reported last night was the world premiere of Push! Paula was at it, looking cute in a dress, stockings and white hat. I can’t wait for the reviews of this one to start coming in!

Also yesterday, Paula attended the The Film Lounge Media Center at Park City. She looked cute and cozy trying to keep warm at the cold event!

Today there was a luncheon for Push at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival! Paula was there, once again accompanied by husband Robin Thicke. They are such a gorgeous couple!

I know I’m jumping around here, but I want to go back and talk about
working with some of the actors and crew I loved. Lenny Kravitz is
like a brother to me. He plays a nurse; what a rock star! And I
don’t mean that literally. Mo’Nique, she gave me her soul and then some. Paula Patton rolled up her sleeves and dove right in. Gabby, what a find! What a miracle! The group of
girls Precious befriends when she enrolls into her new school were my
puppets on a string that made magic happen. I’m sure I’m forgetting
other actors, but I’ll say these actors made my life happy and my
heart smile. It was an honor to work with them.

With sheer audacity and utter authenticity, director Lee Daniels tackles Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire and creates an unforgettable film that sets a new standard for cinema of its kind. Precious Jones (Gabourey Sidibe) is a high-school girl with nothing working in her favor. She is pregnant with her father’s child—for the second time. Blackvoices.com has blogged about the first look of Paula’s new film ‘Push‘ where she stars as Ms. Rain. ‘Push’ will premiere January 15 – 25 at The 2009 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. We will definitely have photo coverage of Ms. Patton.

You can read what she has to say about her character as well as Gabby’s Clareece ‘Precious’ Jones. Please be aware that this can contain SPOILERS.

Patton, who’s making a name for herself as one of Black Hollywood’s rising stars, talked candidly and in-depth about her role during a recent interview.

“I play the schoolteacher, Ms. Rain. The story revolves around a young girl that grew up in Harlem that has faced unimaginable abuse and she is severely overweight and has a second child coming on the way; and the world has forgotten her. She’s been left behind. Somehow she got through the eighth grade and still doesn’t know how to read. She’s befriended by this schoolteacher and together we forge a friendship.”

“I push her to keep her will to live and tell her that she can be the best that she can be, and she can do more than anyone thought she can do,” she continued. “Although she can’t read right now, she can go to college. She then pushes me because at one point I was in a sad case with my family because I’m a lesbian and my mom has rejected me. The love that I get from her is replacing that from my mother. It’s a really beautiful friendship.” [Source]

So definitely click on the source to see images from the film. I’m really excited for this; I’ve seen this book countless times upon reshelving it when I worked at the library but never read it… I’m still jazzed either way. We hope you are and hopefully ‘Push’ will make its way to a theatre near you.
