Variey has given Push a wonderful review. Here are some excepts:
An urban nightmare with a surfeit of soul, Push: Based on a Novel by Sapphire is like a diamond — clear, bright, but oh so hard. To simply call it harrowing or unsparing doesn’t quite cut it; Push is also courageous and uncompromising, a shaken cocktail of debasement and elation, despair and hope. Everyone involved deserves major credit for creating a movie so dangerous, problematic and ultimately elevating. Marketing will be a problem, because the shorthand description is so unpalatable. But this is, for all its scorched-earth emotion, a film to be loved.
Daniels never allows the film, however gothic and nightmarish, to lose its footing in the real world, and that world includes a certain amount of hope: Despite her mother’s hostility, Claireece enrolls in an alternative school where a teacher named Blu Rain (Paula Patton) prepares young women for their GEDs. Patton is terrific, beautiful but carrying the weight of the world in her eyes. And Claireece’s classmates, with their street-smart banter, give the film some needed levity.

Check out one of the very first reviews to come out about Push. The review makes the film sound very promising which is good to hear! The movie was screened and received with a standing ovation at the Racquet Club.

The rest of the cast performs just as strongly. Before this morning I had written Paula Patton (Mirrors, Hitch) off completely as an actress. But Push shows that, given the right material, Patton can be luminously beautiful and emotionally vivid.
From: HitFix
Push is an inspiring and powerful film that will put Daniels on the map as one of cinema’s emerging talents. Now, all he has to do is figure out how to pull off an equally rewarding encore

Today there was a luncheon for Push at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival! Paula was there, once again accompanied by husband Robin Thicke. They are such a gorgeous couple!

Paula is now in Utah for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival! She made an appearance at the kick off party with her hubby last night. Push premieres tonight so hopefully there will be more pictures then.

Also be sure to view London screencaps, added a few days ago by our lovely Qua! Paula has a super brief scene, but looks gorgeous as always!

I know I’m jumping around here, but I want to go back and talk about
working with some of the actors and crew I loved. Lenny Kravitz is
like a brother to me. He plays a nurse; what a rock star! And I
don’t mean that literally. Mo’Nique, she gave me her soul and then some. Paula Patton rolled up her sleeves and dove right in. Gabby, what a find! What a miracle! The group of
girls Precious befriends when she enrolls into her new school were my
puppets on a string that made magic happen. I’m sure I’m forgetting
other actors, but I’ll say these actors made my life happy and my
heart smile. It was an honor to work with them.

Both of Paula’s late 2008 films Swing Vote and Mirrors have been released to Region 1 DVD, yesterday.
I will be making caps of both movies when they reach my door step! Hopefully they will arrive sometime next week.
